TIPS BY A LOCAL

EXCHANGE MONEY

The best option to save money is by bringing dollars/Euros and exchanging them here.  There are many places where you can exchange. But I would recommend  to do it at "La calle de las carretas". This is in downtown area where you may also find many place. You can ask how much per dollar and choose the best exchange rate. WATER IN CARTAGENA

If you are worried about  the water in Cartagena. Don´t worry, water in Cartagena is potable. But there are many people who don´t tolerate pretty good water in foreign places.  I recommend drinking bottled water if you are concerned about this.

AVOID PLAYA BLANCA

Playa blanca is a beautiful beach at the island Barú. Barú is the biggest island in Colombia. It´s beautiful blue water makes it beign one of most beautiful beaches in Cartagena.  This is a public  place, it´s not a private beach, so it´s always full of people and street vendors. Then, if you are looking for a quite place, Barú is not an option.  But if you don´t care about crowd. Come to Barú!
